Last Resort – March 2018

All the news that's fit to greenscreen

It’s not often that we have good things to say about a video where a man interviews a fish – but for this, the latest episode of Last Resort, we’ll make an exception.

The Guru of greenscreen returns for another monthly round-up of all things shred – and given that March is when we spend most of our time actually snowboarding rather than just writing about it, we’re most grateful for this one. Damn, did we miss some good stuff.

“In the firing line this month are weird action shots filmed with drones, a Finnish edit overdoing the arse-heavy followcam, and JP Walker saying ‘off the meat rack’”

First up is a recap of everyone’s favourite film-in-the-streets showdown, X Games Real Snow. This is a feast of absolute bangers, with Frank Bourgeois at the top of the pile. While Stan has essentially done a ‘I watched all these so you don’t have to’, you should anyway.

As usual, Stan’s take on the news is heavy on both cheers and jeers. In the firing line this month are weird action shots filmed with drones, a Finnish edit overdoing the arse-heavy followcam (“it felt like some bizarro world where girls find snowboard dudes attractive, and this was like a rap video”), and JP Walker saying “off the meat rack”. Hard to argue with any of those, really – and yeah, where have the Yawgoons been?

Getting props are Fridtjof Tischendorf’s can-popping at the Burton US Open, the extended BYNDxMDLS crew (especially Ulrik Badertscher whose bonkers frontflip has blown more minds than the Samsung Note 7) and the raw files from the Vans’ Landline movie.

If you’ve been feeling out of the loop, here’s what will get you back up to speed.
