Every Third Thursday Season 5 Ep. 8: Vinyl Record Snowboard

With Record Store Day approaching in the US this saturday, what better time than for a special vinyl record snowboard in the latest episode of Every Third Thursday.

Vinyl records are definitely making a comeback and Dave Lee and the Signal gang set out to turn music into flex patterns in the new episode of ETT.

After hitting up Rainbo Records and gathering a bunch of records – everyone from The Smiths to Dr. Dre – it’s back to the Signal factory for some inserts, a couple layers of fiberglass and a bucket-load of resin.

Once set, it’s up to Bear Mountain to test the board in the slush. As predicted, this thing’s as soft as they come, and looks like a whole lot of fun to rip around on.

We have to admit that we shed a tear or two when Alex Cato eventually snapped the thing in two. If there was any ETT board that deserved to spend the rest of its days hanging on a wall somewhere, it was this one!

From Signal:

Records are experiencing a major comeback and Record Store Day is the ultimate celebration of these enduring vinyl discs! Dave Lee and the Signal Snowboards crew get in on the celebration by teaming up with Rainbo Records to make a snowboard entirely out of records. Dave gets an epic factory tour seeing the transformation of pucks of vinyl into top quality records. Dave is in heaven, but there’s work to be done! The plan is to transform records and resin into a rideable snowboard. Dave gets busy in the Signal factory piecing together a full range of 20-plus records from The Smiths to Dr. Dre, and heat pressing the creation together. The board gets put to the test on the slopes of Brighton. Does this mix jam or is it a broken record? Find out in this episode of ETT.
