BC, Aspen, Perisher, Solden… Seemingly there wasn’t a kicker on earth that Mark McMorris didn’t rock up to last winter, stacking one of the fullest Burton Presents… parts to come out this year. And if your idea of snowboarding is all about what goes on in the air, the is by far the most impressive video we’ve witnessed so far in the run up to first lifts.
Chat about triples used to always be about kicker design – the perfect angles, whip, take of speeds – indeed the pre-season huck fest that goes down every year in Stubai is designed by computers and overseen by Austrian robo-park-cops. So how on earth McMorris can put down that front triple ender off of a backcountry booter is totally beyond us, but probably due to the fact he’s got back triples on park jumps so dialled a steady cam operator can safely follow him off one (3.05). The highlight for us? The Solden dub rodeo 12, what?!
Now McLuvin’s well and truly cut his powder teeth there’s no knowing where he’ll be headed yet – the backcountry footage dotted around here is a long way from his wild card run at Supernatural a few years ago – we just hope that this same camera crew manages to keep up.
