Burton Snowboards and Mint Snowboard School have been doing great things with young rippers over the past winter and will continue to do so in 2014 with the Mini-Shred Movement. It’s never too young to start snowboarding!
We love seeing kids enjoying snowboarding at a young age (take this 17-month old snowboarding baby for example!) and this new video from Mint Snowboard School based in the Avoriaz region got us pretty hyped on their new program.
As soon as kids can stand they can snowboard. Jumps, rails and even simple turns can wait, but they can still enjoy the sensation of sliding on snow from a very early age.
Collectively, the snowboard industry needs to pull together to encourage as many kids to get involved in snowboarding as possible and getting them going (and inevitably hooked!) at a young age is a really important step.
The Burton riglet program is a great initiative for getting young kids on boards and anyone who has ever witnessed one first hand will agree when we say that it’s one of the cutest things you’ll ever see (yes, we know that writing the word ‘cute’ on a snowboard site is kinda lame, but come on, you know it’s the truth!). Mint Snowboard school are continuing the good work here in association with Burton and we’re fully backing it.
Burton Snowboards and Mint Snowboard School present The Mini-Shred Movement; proving that you are never too young, or too cute, to snowboard! They give a professional and educational take on snowboarding for 3-6 year old kids.
“Kids can’t snowboard until they are 7 years old, right?”
The perceived idea that kids are not able to snowboard until age 7, due to build and physique, is being proven wrong. As soon as kids can stand they can snowboard. Jumps, rails and even simple turns can wait, but they can still enjoy the sensation of sliding on snow from a very early age.
Top, professional instruction will make this early stage fun and exciting with learning hidden in games. Mint Snowboard School have built up a comprehensive program of fun-focused teaching and innovative games… it’s all about learning through play.
Burton Snowboards have helped drive this new generation of mini-shredders, making huge steps forwards in equipment adapted to little people. Along with developments in boards, boots & bindings, there’s also the Riglet reel, a Burton creation that is key for teaching the real ankle-biters!
