Xavier De Le Rue – Degrees North

Xavier De Le Rue is back with more rectum clenching descents from places you’ll probably never visit, this time with a few fellow mentalists in tow. They’ve been up to the extreme latitudes and longitudes to visit some of the harshest terrain that the world has to offer.

Adversity breeds creativity and it looks like Xavier has been working on a new type of transport to get him up to the peaks; powered parachuting. Forget Travis Rice clinging onto the side of a helicopter, it’s all about rigging yourself up to a massive fan and dropping out of the sky. In locations where you don’t have the luxury of heliports, it seems like this is the new way to get the shots.

That’s not to say that this makes it any easier either – it’s pretty interesting to see Xavier lose his iceman mask at 01:12. By the looks of it though, it was worth it; some of the lines we get a glimpse of in the teaser are the definition of burly, and if this is the first project to pioneer this type of transport, imagine what’s to come in the future.

The full film from Swatch and The North Face will make up the 3rd instalment of Xavier’s ‘Missions’ series, and will drop in autumn 2015.
