Overture – A Snowboard Movie From Kazakhstan

We love snowboarding. In fact, we think it’s pretty fucking sick. What’s even better, is finding out that other people love it as well. In most countries around the World, there’s a snowboard scene. Whilst it might not be big, popular or supported by anyone – there’s a scene. What’s even cooler than that however, is watching a scene emerge.

That’s what ‘Overture’ is all about – the inception of a snowboard community in Kazakhstan. According to Transworld Snowboarding, the riders in this film hooked up with the Rome familia for their ‘Find Snowboarding‘ project last season, and were inspired to make their own film.

As far as we’re concerned, that makes it one of the best film projects of all time. Instead of watching the film once, and then continuing with day-to-day life, the project has been the flash point of an emergence of snowboarding in a country that didn’t have that before (as far as we know). How sick is that?!

In their own words: “The reason we gave this movie this name, is because Overture means introduction in music, and the same goes for our movie as we truly believe that our movie becomes an overture of new era of Kazakh snowboarding scene.

At the moment we do not have big parks, big local scene or the high level of riding like in other countries. However we do have a lot of love for snowboarding and want to show the world Kazakh snowboarding as it is.

That’s what it’s all about though isn’t it? A love for snowboarding.
