Slushy Girls Shred Session at Superpark Dachstein

Traditionally, the grand finale of the Girls Shred Session presented by Burton Girls took place at the Superpark Dachstein. Ana Rumiha, Anna Gasser, Pilar de la Cruz and Mateja Kordic didn’t hesitate and grabbed their boards in order to coach all the girls who came to the slushy glacier park to enhance their tricks and tweaks.

These days the setup of the Superpark Dachstein offers the best conditions you can imagine! That’s definitely good news for those who prefer to enjoy the bright sunshine at the park instead of the local swimming pond – and for those whose shred season doesn’t reach its peak until summer. This is certainly the case with Ana Rumiha. The snowboard pro from Croatia is a permanent guest at the Dachstein and hence was the perfect choice for being the coach at the most recent Girls Shred Session; Ana supported all of the participants with plenty of helpful tips and tricks.

On the 28th of May the season’s grand finale of the Girls Shred Sessions presented by Burton Girls took place at the Superpark Dachstein. Anna Gasser, Pilar de la Cruz and Mateja Kordic dedicatedly grabbed their boards and all of the girls who had come their way and didn’t hesitate to support the beginners with their best tips at the slushy Superpark.

After a couple of easy warm-up runs on the boxes, the first signs of progress could already be seen. Coach Ana Rumiha also took the girls to the advanced line in order to practice their tricks and tweaks. Of course, there’s no session without a couple of slams, but with these slushy and buttery landings even those were fun! Ana particularly loves the Dachstein for its mellow conditions. She spends most of her summers at the park and never fails to impress with her rail skills again and again each season.

Because of this, but above all because she’s totally dedicated in pushing girl-snowboarding into new directions, she was just the right person to offer plenty of helpful advice as a coach on the 28th of May. Here she tells her story regarding the Superpark Dachstein focusing on the (girl-) scene in particular…

Ana, you are already a „quasi-Dachstein-local“. Do you remember your first session up here and can you describe for us a little how it was like back then?

I started snowboarding on Dachstein 13 years ago. At this time I had no idea that people can snowboard in June and July and when I found out about it, my life kinda changed. I had many amazing years with my Croatian and Slovenian buddies here.

Were there many girls up here shredding or were you more like an “Alien”?

Not really, but even if I was sometimes the only girl, I never felt like an ‘Alien’. There’s too much love on that mountain 🙂 We’re not divided up here, girls are riding with the guys, everyone is respected the same.

What has changed since then, especially with regard to girls in the park?

There are more and more girls every year and seeing them progress is the best. On some days there are even more girls than guys in the park. They’re filming, riding together and having the same fun. You can feel how less afraid they are to step it up and just find their place there and ride.

That’s exactly the aim of the Girls Shred Sessions! What else should be done to succeed?

Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything I’d change. It is a perfect event where the girls can just be pushed a bit in a right direction and makes them think from a different perspective.

Cheers and many thanks for the interview! Your final shout-out for all the Shred-Girls out there?

Keep it up ladies, never be shy to ride and always find the joy in it.

The girls were most definitely having a blast at the final Girls Shred Session of this season; just have a look at the clip. You can find a gallery of the best shots on the Superpark Dachstein website. By the way, the playground on the glacier is open for your shred pleasure until the 17th of July!
