http://mpora.com/videos/P6ZY6tkp5 Check out the first episode of Cheryl Maas's 'Open Air' web series. The girl is on fire, seriously.
If we were to say "Cheryl Maas is one of the most legit, well-rounded female riders to ever strap in," and you were to disagree then we'd have to offer you out. From the street rails where she first got noticed, to progressive park booter shredding, to pow stomps and even the odd bit of pipe riding, there are few who can hold a candle to her skills.
After a couple of seasons hampered by injury, last winter her considerable energies were channelled into her Open Air webisode project. As you'll have gathered from picking up this month's print mag with her stormer of an interview in it, her season was pretty darn epic, and now you can follow what went down in moving pictures as a new episode of Open Air is set to drop each month(ish)
Although it involved being stalked for six months by people wielding expensive cameras, Open Air allowed Cheryl to focus fully on what makes her the most driven, motivated, rewarded – filming. Her and her filmer, John Roderick, spent the lion's share of last winter traveling around Europe and the US in their two person crew, hooking up with buddies and allowing Cheryl the freedom to push herself in whatever way she wanted. The results will unfold over five short films, released monthly from today.
This first episode, Holland to Colorado... The Start of the Season, gives you a bit of background on Cheryl's roots on the dryslopes of Holland before bezzing it to Colorado where the real deal begins. After having watched the first few of these, we can let you know you won't be disappointed. Double are coming...
