Nicolas Müller – Full Part From Absinthe’s TurboDojo

A part that will stand the test of time?

About ten years ago, I saw Tenacious D in concert at the Reading Festival. At the time I remember gearing up to have a bit of a giggle, more at them than with them, but about three songs in I was blown away.

The point at which they had me was this: having entered on opposite side of the stage, Jack Black, resplendent in a naff Harry Potter outfit, asked Kyle Gass why he was dressed like a dinosaur.

Gass: *Incoherent mumbles*
Black: “I said why are you dressed like a dinosaur?!”
Gass: “You said to dress as a lizard”
Black: “I said WIZARD not LIZARD!”

Magnificent. They then proceeded to power through an amazing 90-minute set as Slipknot had pulled out due to a mask malfunction or something. I don’t know, it was Reading.

“My point is, Jack Black is annoying as fuck”

My point is, Jack Black is annoying as fuck. Yeah, there’s an argument for High Fidelity, but Shallow Hal is, for my money, the worst film of all time. Maybe followed by The Holiday, also starring our hero. Just take a look at his filmography, it doesn’t paint a very good picture of an artist honing his craft – it’s all aimed for the lowest common denominator. But when paired with Gass, he made something magical: a comedy band that ended up being better than the shit they were parodying.

My actual point is, the song choice for Nicolas Müller‘s latest part with Absinthe is spot on. It might be sacrilege to say it, but these days both parties sometimes can set your teeth on edge. What’s that? Absinthe are crowd-funding their latest flick instead of moving with the times? And Nico? Yeah he’s selling magical energy dust in a tube and standing naked in the woods for the intro to his own movie.

There’s a big but coming…

But, when they pair up and do what they do best, the result is spectacular. It takes a lot to stand out from the noise of snowboarding’s corner of the internet, but be damn sure that when I see the words ‘Absinthe’ and ‘Müller’ in the same sentence I’m going to put aside everything and make time for it. When they come together, magic hapens.

This part from TurboDojo is justification for both parties’ spots in every list of snowboarding’s greats, it transcends all and joins a long line of legendary videos made by this matchup. The style, the song, that drop, you know the one I’m talking about… Goosebumps.

You have to ask though, would it have been even greater if he was dressed as a dinosaur?
