Mary Luggen is a rider from Serfaus, Austria and hands down crushes it. Check out her full part for some seriously hammer-laden urban boarding...
We were first made aware of Mary Luggen and her undeniable skills on a stunt stick back in 2012, but it was the part she released in 2014 that made us really sit up and take notice. Hitting legit urban spots with a solid style is a sure-fire way of making an impression, and she did just that to join an increasing number of women who've dropped great parts in recent years.
"It’s just a sweet challenge every day," she said of getting her jib on. "I see a rail or obstacle and think about what I can do on it and how I can get creative. The feeling when you land a new trick after 3000 tries (or whatever!) is great, all the tries before are just gone and all you feel is good."
Last season Mary was once again focussed on bagging bangers for a season edit, which she most assuredly did, and the result is another memorable clip cut together nicely by Peter Rossner. With creative hits and unique spots combined with kinks and flat bars (and even a spot of powder), it's clear Mary has a deep sack of skills to draw on when it comes to her snowboarding.
There's no doubt that women are still under-represented on the hill, with some feeling a sense of still being treated as outsiders. But the more parts like Mary's and her peers' we see, hopefully the more women will feel inspired to get out there and get busy - either on the streets, in the park or the backcountry.
