FLASHBACK: Danny Davis in Burton’s ‘Guy in the Sky’

Burton Snowboard’s ‘Guy in the Sky’ was a low-key promo video they produced for the 2006/07 season, which ranks up there as one of our ‘go to‘ movies, for when we’re looking for a little dash of 00’s snowboarding.

At that point, the Burton team was more stacked than a deck of cards consisting purely of the ace of spades; Terje Håkonsen, DCP, Romain De Marchi, Frederik Kalbermatten, Trevor Andrew, Tashadi Fuse, Heikki Sorsa, Mads Jonsson, Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones, AFM, Molly Aguirre, Hannah Teter, Victoria Jealouse, Natasza Zurek, Lucas Debari, Mason Aguirre, Shaun White, Takaharu Nakai, Kevin Pearce, Mikkel Bang, Mitch Reed, Keegan Valaika, Kazu Kokubo, Marco Grilic, Hannes Metzler and Nicolas Müller.

Absofuckinglutley stacked.

This little 2-minute number is Danny Davis; firing up the pistons to take on Shaun for the battle of the 2006 Burton US Open, a Memoires worthy pipe session and a session on THAT kicker.

Unfortunately, Danny didn’t have enough fluid in the hydraulics to topple Shaun, but it was a face-off that was worthy of a Nic Cage spin-off in the USO 2006, and like a fine wine, Danny’s only got better with age.

‘Guy in the Sky’ continues to be a hell of an under-rated number in this writer’s opinion. The intro complete with Terje launching into the mother of all cliff drops with Queens of the Stone Age searing out of the speakers is one of openers of all-time.

Put that in your #TBT pipe, and smoke it.
