2015 has seen SO many great rider parts released to the depths of the internet. Coming up with our favourite parts of this year led to days of lost time re-watching parts, hours of heated debate, one black-eye, a chipped tooth and lots of apologies. We take things seriously here at Onboard.
This type of post will always cause some disagreement, but it's a testament to all the riders that threw down, hit bigger spots and jumps, dragged themselves up after taking a slam for one more try and all the new tricks that were captured for our viewing pleasure.
Shout outs have to go to the filmers and editors for putting all these parts together, trying to make their edit stand out in this age of endless internet scrolling is no easy feat. Do yourself, the riders and the filmers a favour by taking the time to watch these parts in full. We consider them our favourites and after you see them, you will too.
Tell us your favourite parts of 2015 in the comments section below, but bear in mind our criteria was Euro riders who released a part online in calendar year 2015. Keep your eyes peeled for part two, there were too many great parts to fit in one!
So, in no particular order...
Ethan Morgan - Sponsor Me Tape 2015
Kicking things off is TfA's very own German/Americano contest kid turned unsponsored badass, coming through with an old-school sponsor me tape. With cameo's from a heavy roster of riders too long to list here Ethan put together an edit with so much solid snowboarding any sponsor would be foolish to forget about it. In his own words: "I can jump over trucks, across streets, on cars and from cars to downrails. Sometimes, even with a can of beer in my hand." Not bad for a snowboard enthusiast of 16+ years.
Toni Kerkelä - Postland Theory - Connect The Dots
Rome ripper Toni has one beastly nose press. With the ability to make solid metal rails quiver beneath his power, this full part which was also the ender from Postland Theory's 'Connect The Dots' had to be in contention. One of the best dudes to shred with, always happy, always smiling, always killing it.
Øivind Fykse - DVP - Broken Circuit
Without doubt one of the heaviest street only parts this year, Øivind's style is on another level. No wonder he rides for Rough Snowboards, because the spots are raw, rough and ready yet he puts down insanely technical tricks like he's not even trying. This guy is on a roll at the moment, the envy of every rail rider out there, we can't wait to see what he'll throw down next.
Peetu Piiroinen - Insights
Finish freestyler Peetu has been in the contest circuit for longer than most with more success than many of the other guys. In his full movie he offers up some 'Insights' on progression and competitive snowboarding. A refreshing change of pace on the whole snowboarding contest haters arguments, if anyone has an opinion that can be trusted it should be Peetu. Plus he still absolutely rips on his snowboard. Essential Christmas viewing in our opinion.
Sven Thorgren - Season Edit 2015
This Swedish wonder kid is bursting at the seams with energy and can stretch like armstrong with some of the grabs he manages to pull off. Just check his 2nd place podium runs from the Beijing air and Style for proof of that. With some of the most stylish jump tricks in the game, Sven clearly took a few notes from Mr. Stale Sandbech, added in some extra pop, added a healthy dose of tweakery, to come through with a very heavy season edit.
