Mark McMorris has had a whirlwind of a season. From going into the Olympics with a broken rib to topping the US Open podium, it’s been no easy year for McMorris. Watch how his season unfolded in his full Burton Presents mini-documentary.
Mark McMorris was the odds-on favorite to take the gold medal this year at Sochi 2014. After starting out the season as strong as ever by claiming a win at the Dew Tour, Mark was feeling unstoppable. Until he caught his edge going into a rail in the X Games slopestyle final.
Going into the most high-pressure situation of your life with a broken rib can’t have been all that fun, and to come out with a bronze medal regardless is quite the achievement.
That season for me was just totally one for the books. I don’t think i’ll ever re-live anything like it.
It’s great to see how Mark managed to regain his confidence after Sochi, heading out to Baldface to rip powder with Travis Rice, before being slung right back into the thick of it at the U.S. Open. We can totally see how walking away with a gold there felt like “the icing on the cake”.
Gold medal or not, Mark remains one of the most dominant forces on the slopestyle circuit and we’re sure we’ll be seeing him crushing contests again this winter.
