If you like dreamy slow-motion shots of oceans of Japanese powder and high-speed fluff chucking, dive into this mini-movie from the crew at Offshore Snow Shapes for a ton of internet faceshots…
Japan. Does that place ever have a bad winter?! Seems not, as each year crew after crew venture to the Land of the Rising Sun to get pitted in its Mountains of Tit Deep Pow. And if you have aspirations of creating pow-focussed snowboards it makes sense to base yourselves and your factory there and never leave. This is the case with Offshore Snow Shapes.
Based out of Moiwa, Japan – at the foothills of Niseko – Offshore Snow Shapes have been hand-crafting snowboards out of their bespoke factory for a few years now. Unsurprisingly, their shapes are all geared towards getting the most fun out of a variety of conditions commonplace to that area – you know, light pow, steep pow, mellow pow, heavy pow, pow pow. You get the picture..
And with another winter of powder riding wrapped up, they’ve gone back through all the footy they stacked of some of their team riders lapping up the goods in their backyard and produced this most froth-inducing short: Oxysnowdone.
They say: “Winter in Hokkaido has long been compared to the silence and cocooned safety of a mother’s womb. Or perhaps it is more like the bliss and confusion of an opiate high. Either way, whilst deeply wrapped by this blanket of powder, we found Oxysnowdone.” We say: give us some!
