Low tide is no obstacle for Eiki Helgason. Check him working on his kickflip game to while away the summer drought...

Kickflips on snowboards are peculiar, awkward beasts. There's an argument to be had that in a sport that often tries hard to vainly ape skateboarding it's a bridge of mimicry too far. Skateboard kickflips done well are things of beauty, but on a snowboard such unstrapped tricks can tend to look, well... forced.

But then, hey, we don't need to grab our boards yet we still do. Strip away the trends, the fashion, the hate... fundamentally snowboarding's about having fun and pissing around trying out weird and wonderful things. Guys like Eiki and Scott Stevens aren't afraid to think outside the box and for that we should be grateful – it also should be noted that both these blokes are no slouches on their 'useless wooden toys', either.

So here we have Eiki working on his flip game outside the infamous Icelandic icerink so he can do shit like the madness below come winter. Stay tuned for when he tre-flips the Akureyri river gap...

Of course, there's always this... but then it's faker than Pammy's norks.
