Banked slaloms are awesome. Fonna is awesome. Therefore it only stands to reason that a banked slalom in Fonna would be off the chain. And it was!
The essence of a banked slalom couldn't be simpler: you go fast, you turn, the fastest person through the course wins. Navigating those berms and whoops, however, is not straightforward and there's no coincidence that the people who end up posting the quickest times at these things are widely considered to be masters in the art of snowboarding.
The Mushroom Crew - the dudes behind Folgefonna's park set up, not to mention the (mostly) weekly Fridays at Fonna series - held their own interpretation of a banked slalom, or rather Banked Shalom, the other weekend, with a host of rippers from Norway and beyond making the pilgrimage to race through the rad-looking setup.
As well as the standard banks and berms, the crew had also crafted a couple of turns that we haven't seen before in a banked slalom - look out for the redirect turn and the 270-degree - to add a little spice to proceedings.
So without further ado, check out the video recap from the annual Mushroom Crew's Banked Shalom! As they say, it was "Insane riding, insane course, insane amounts of fun!" Edit made by the one and only Øivind Fykse. Videogaphy by Øivind Fykse and Ben Howells.

And also, though the Mushroom Crew's Fridays at Fonna had a week's sabbatical, they also released episode 5 the other day, so here it is for more summery goodtimes from the Norwegian glacier...
