Mons Røisland might be absent from the latest MarMor edit, but fear not – there’s a whole host of awesome thrown down in Dombås by Markus Olimstad, Emil Ulsletten and Bendik Gjerdalen here…
Dombås, a small hill in the centre of the southern part of Norway, is probably best known for being the place that Marcus Kleveland hails from. As mountain resorts go it’s relatively unassuming – there are only two lifts after all – but as several Scandi spots (most notably Talma) have shown over the years, it’s not what you have, it’s what you do with it that counts.
And when it comes to their park, they’ve certainly been doing a lot of late. Thanks in part to their homegrown young wizard, they’ve effectively had one of the best park riders on the planet be their personal lab rat, on hand to fine tune what features can work best in the relatively small area they have to play with. Plus Kleveland’s sugary friends have ponyed up some cash enabling more jibs and jumps to be created in recent years
And recently the MarMor boys dropped in to tear up the big ol’ jump, the hip with a decidedly sketchy runout, and the nice selection of jibs that makes up the Dombås setup. If you’re not familiar with MarMor, it’s the name for a slightly irregular series of edits featuring Mons Røisland and Markus Olimstad – their first drop out of Saas Fee is worth watching for Olimstad’s bonkers lazy back 1-late 180 thing.
Unfortunately Mons got broke off pretty bad in the Olympic slopestyle back in February and is only just easing his way back into riding, so Markus let homies Emil Ulsletten and Benedik Gjerdalen in on the MarMor party for this edit. And it’s a banger.
As park riding goes it smoothly dances the tightrope between tech, style and straight up fun, and the filming/editing is great, with some angles and effects to make it definitely stand out from the notorious Wank.
Sick job, boys!
