The LA River crew's latest tour edit of them putting their unique brand of smackdown on the planet's parks sees them roll into Vierli and Uvdal. As per usual, shit went pop, but we realised we didn't know much about this gang of Scands so took the opportunity to hit up Sune Josephsen - one of the driving forces behind the brand - to get the lowdown on what the LA River is all about...

How come a buncha Scandis linked up with an LA apparel brand/tattoo artist?

I met Stephen Carballo (TheLosAngelesRiver) in 2011 through our mutual friend, Keyan Dale, who introduced us through snowboard and partying at Bear Mountain. We got wasted at this competition and partied hard till the next morning, where we took another round of partying till next morning.

We both had the common interest of having the most fun, so we got along well together.

The following week, I got my first tattoo from him, partied hard and arranged that he could come to Denmark with the bros - Shawn Averill and Keyan Dale - that summer. He did, and we travelled around Scandinavia for several months.

The following winter, Stephen shortly met with some of the boys from the main team of The L.A River - Eirik Nesse, Øivind Fykse, Mathias Nordby and Jessi Blackwell - shredding in Bear. From then on, the crew has been shaped through partying, Tattos, snow and skateboarding in the search of having the most fun.

Stephen also moved to Norway for a almost a year, always having a squad around him, growing the L.A River Liver to its maximum before peacing out with pockets of hard earning dough to bring back to the States.

Who's repping the snowboard side of things?

In the beginning, Stephen and I travelled through US and Europe together, having the most fun with developing the brand. And on the road the gang has just grown bigger. When Stephen moved back to Cali, opened a shop, got wifey and a young stallion kid (that man is a straight baller, much respect and love for that man) I took over the team scene and established The L.A River in Europe to continue the good times and what it all started with. I love it and will hopefully never stop doing that.

The guys that have been with us and been a part of The L.A River trips, who we support and have much love for is a wide group of talented individuals. Birkir Georgsson from Iceland, Haakon Eilertsen, Øivind Fykse, Eirik Nesse, Jessi Blackwell, and Marius Schafferer from Norway, Simon Houlind and Tobias Himmelstrup from Denmark, Rasmus Nielsen from Greenland, Cees Wille and Max De Vries from The Netherlands, Artem Smolin, Denis Leontyev, Andrey Trofimov from Russia, Ollie Dutton from Great Britain, Trainspotters (George Kaplan & Ricky Rewind) and Simon Ottosson from Sweden, and Yosuke Hayashi from Japan.

In previous years you guys have done the LA River Fuck My Liver trips and Family Fights. Any loose stories from this year's tour?

The season started by buying an old MC Benz automobile style, and rebuilding it into a 6-metre long, 3-metre high Gang Wagon that got its name PEEINAPOTALOT through some high end discussions on the road. We drove it from Oslo, Norway to Holland for around for 2 weeks and then back.

The new kid on the block this year, BirkDog Georgsson, had his virgin tour with the gang. He saved the tour by driving the PEEINAPOTALOT full speed to the ferry while the rest of the gang forgot we had a boat to catch and were still drunk in the back. The super hero BirkDog saved the day.

Later, going back from Holland we got pulled over 3am by them German Pitbulls, asking for pee and spit and countless of tests. I was sure i was fucked, but I nailed the test cause my mouth was full of McDonald's so after an hour they let me go and we could go the next 20 hours with no problems, just smooth sailing.

What can you tell us about the mini movie you're teasing us with?

We went on tour in February with the gang, and we made some dealios with ShapeCrew - a Nordic team who goes to destinations and builds them the sickest park for the winter. They arranged for us to go and have fun at Vierli Terrengpark and Uvdal, both in Norway where they have built the set up. On the way we took some days to shoot in the streets, and the boys were killing it. Super stoked on all the boys giving them 100% in both fucking livers and making snowboarding great again!
