A three-pronged Horsefeathers trident – Måns Hedberg, Tyler Chorlton and Dušan Kříž – pitched up in late-season Arlberg at the end of last winter, and slashed, carved, and sent their way all over that shit…
Though few would argue that nothing in snowboarding can beat a good powder day with the homies, spring slush boarding can often come damn close. Arlberg is known across the world for the former – movie crews from all four corners regularly descend on the Austrian valley to take advantage of the epic terrain and regular dumps there – but when Måns, Tyler and Dušan rolled through at the tail end of the past season, they showed that it’s equally as possible to have the best of times when snow conditions are more low tide and moist.
With the soft pack and spongy landings you know you can turn the Sendometer up a few more notches safe in the knowledge that spankings will be less severe, and when it comes to carving the opportunity for digging trenches and sending slash sprays to the moon goes through the roof. In short, we’d take a scorchio spring session with a good crew over pretty much any other kind of snowboarding, bar the kind of powder days we’ve just enjoyed in Laax.
For their trip, the Horsefeathers boys used St Anton was their homebase, and from there they spent a good few days carving, slashing and mob shredding around through the spring soft stuff. In this there are some epic side hits, mob shred malarky and good times under warm skies, and for those who prefer their edits to have more traditional jumping fear not: this is finished off with some good, old fashioned double flipping kicker destruction from the boys.
Click play, turn up the heating, raise a glass of fine Austrian beer, and get this in ya eyeballs!
