Fridays at Fonna – S5 Ep.2

The second dispatch from the crew spending their summertime shredding the Folgefonna glacier has dropped, and it’s got enough heat to get any BBQ started…

Yeah, it’s Fridays at Fonna. On a Monday. The Mushroom Crew did drop this at the bitter end of last week, but sadly it was after our machines had been spun down for their weekend RnR. The good news is that you can now enjoy slushy summer shredding from Norway as a way of easing yourselves into another working week! Boom!

And after their first episode rang in the new season up there admirably, in this second edit you can see how the park and its epic peculiarities is starting to take shape. Here, there’s of course a bunch of jib wizardry and some slick spins on the medium- and bigger jumps, plus some side hit, snow blob innovation.

We always find that while the stunts the guys up there throw down on the rails and kickers of the park are always rad, it’s the riding that’s done on the peculiar side hits, trannie-finders, snow blobs and more unconventional features around and outside the park that really gets the boogie juices flowing. The semi-natural pipe is always a reliable host, but who could forget the cat-valanche (at around 2.40 in our recent Fonna Hot Spots), or any one of the multitude of times someone has ridden a hit into a bit of snow-pushing detritus and hucked something memorable.

This time round a spot of bad weather means there’s also time for a bit of Mortal Kombat-esque fighting with Len ‘Lenny Powers’ Jørgensen and Kristoffer ‘Crazy Krish’ Lerånd. Plus, for this second episode, Len’s RK1 homie Alek Østreng had made the pilgrimage from Oslo to join the party, and as everyone knows watching Alek ride is always a beautiful thing. Corked front 7 no-grabs, yo!

Riders: Aleksander Østreng, Aleksander Klerud, Kristoffer Lerånd, Sindre Tveiten, Kenneth Kelso Nygård.

Film and edit: Sigurd Vaagland
