Ben Dietermann and Jeremy Jensen go binding-free and score surfy faceshots for days!
Should you be in need of a rootsy respite from all the Olympic action, you'd do well to check this video out of the newly announced Deeluxe FOOTLOOSE team. These dudes love nothing more than ripping pow turns on boards without bindings.
These two dudes believe nothing revives the roots of snowboarding more than powdersurfing. Desiring the feeling of surfing the mountains, German-bred Ben Dietermann - the man behind of Konvoi Snowboards - and US-American powdersurf legend (and founder of Grassroots Powdersurfing) Jeremy Jensen show very clearly that you do not need bindings in order to have a good time. Some of those roosters and faceshots you'd be hard-pressed to tell are not thrown up by someone riding a conventional, two-strapped snowboard.
And although they both grew up on different sides of the globe and developed their own way of shaping boards and surfing powder, they share the same passion for binding-free riding. Deeluxe have been making boots aimed squarely at riders wanting to involve themselves in the strapless movement for a couple of seasons not, and it was the next logical step to start building a team. So they are "more than proud to announce that these two legends are the first official riders of our DEELUXE FOOTLOOSE team."
And what of this boot itself? Deeluxe's Footloose was the first boot specifically designed for powdersurfing and noboarding. Think of it as either a stripped down regular boot or a beefed up 'Sorel'-type. They made the sole super grippy to hang on to the boards' grip pads better, and engineered a flex and overall movement conducive to the increased foot control you need when riding with no bindings.
As Deeluxe say, it's "Tested and approved by powdersurf pioneers." You can check th Footloose out here.
