Yep, this just happened folks. British snowboarder Billy Morgan has landed the world’s first quad cork 1800 on a huge cheese wedge kicker in Livigno, Italy.
Last day riding for the season so thought I would send one for the boys!! Thanks to Red Bull and to Livigno sorting the wedge!
We had heard rumours within snowboarding that a handful of riders had been thinking about going for the elusive quad in the near future, and Billy Morgan – the first rider to land a triple backside rodeo, and a rider who was always one of the first to pull the triple out of the bag in slopestyle contests, has made it happen. Sure, there’s a heavy hand drag here, but for a trick that we weren’t even sure was possible before watching this, we’ll take it as on the money.
The trick will no doubt be extremely divisive, and it will be interesting to see how many riders follow suit over the coming months. The quad is the next logical step in the progression of big air snowboarding after the triple cork backside 1620s we’ve seen from the likes of Yuki Kadono and others recently, although we have to admit that we didn’t expect to see a legitimate quad quite so soon.
What do you think of Billy’s quad cork? Let us know in the comments below.
