All aboard the contest train! Next stop: The O'Neill Evolution...

Having just welcomed the New Year, Davos, Switzerland has today been welcoming the top snowboarding talent in the world for the O’Neill Evolution 2011.

Training on the impressive 6Star halfpipe and slopestyle began on Sunday as the stars of the tour turned up to the base of the Jakobshorn to get a feel of the always evolving set-up of the O’Neill Evolution.

Current Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour World Number three Seb Toots was just one of the big names impressed by what he saw: “The slopestyle looks amazing," said Seb. “I think it’s great that we get to concentrate on one jump. It’s got way more pop than last year, so the airs are going to be much bigger.

“It’s a jump made for progression," said Seb. “And the landing is the best landing I have seen. It’s really long and steep and having the rail set up at het bottom is going to bring in a lot of variation. It’s going to be a great competition," he said. “I can’t wait."

Joining him in Davos is current TTR World Number two Seppe Smits, with both of them hoping to make the most of current World Number one, Gjermund Braten’s withdrawal through injury.

In the 6Star women’s slopestyle and halfpipe events, the lineup is equally impressive. Current TTR World Numbers one and two Enni Rukajärvi and Silvia Mittermüller are already in Davos along with Jamie Anderson, Cheryl Mass and Sarka Pancochova - all checking out the women’s halfpipe qualification tomorrow from 1.30pm ahead of the slopestyle qualifications on January 4th.
