This is Africa

This is Africa. Oh really? While we watched this movie we often asked ourselves if they’re joking! Snow in Africa, ok yes, at the Kilimanjaro but shredkids? South Africa might be famous for its waves and its safari trips, but a snowboard movie?

Apparently two resorts, the Tiffindell Resort in South Africa and the Maloti Mountains in Lesotho, an independent monarchy in the middle of South Africa, and some urban creativity is enough.

This is Africa introduces South Africa’s best riders and if you consider their possibilities, their riding really rocks! You cannot compare their skills with average pro riders in the Alps, but they’re already amazingly good and progress continually. Just watch Marcin Jekot, who has the final part. It’s simply amazing to see what you can do even in the most unusual place to snowboard with a bit of ambition. Marcin’s sister Mawa is killing it as well. This girl has shredblood in her veins and enriches the video with an amazing girl part.

The local citizens probably thought these boys and girls have a cangaroo lost in their top padoc, when they were fooling around in snowboard stuff while the sun was blazing from bluebird skys. During the nights they roamed the streets of iGoli (Johannesburg), jibbing some street spots with snow they got from the local mountains. Amongst them is also Katlego Maponyane, whose gangsta steez can well be compared with the yo-est American bros.

This video is clear proof that you always will find people who are addicted to the white candy, no matter where you are in the whole wide world. You can search in Morocco, Greece or Turkey, in Israel or in Iran – riding the mountains is the ultimate experience for so many and we at Onboard are happy that our fellow shredders from South Africa share their life of little snow but much fun with us. We hope now you can’t wait to get a preview of this movie, just check out the TEASER!
