Released last winter and covermounted exclusively with Onboard issue 88, Good Times is a Finnish snowboard movie, produced by FSP and Flatlight Films, with Tuomas Poikela and Miikka Niemi playing the roles of main filmers and editors. The goal of the movie was to introduce Europe to new Finnish riders and fresh riding spots. Over the course of the 05/06 season some ten photographers and a handful of additional filmers tagged along to capture the action of the 20 riders involved.
The movie was filmed mainly in Finland and Switzerland but the crew did stray to Riksgränsen in northern Sweden. The trip to Switzerland proved to be a highlight of the season with endless days of fresh powder captured on film. Much of March and April was spent in Lapland riding jumps and other man-made obstacles, while rail sessions were filmed over the entire season across Finland. This diversity of locations has guaranteed that Good Times is full of previously unseen Finnish spots while the inclusion of a stable of unknown riders, one of whom was still unsponsored at the time, keeps the movie freezer fresh. Hopefully you’ll like it.
