As we announced the other day, Burton are releasing a step-in binding system in 2018, which they’re calling Step On. And after our paparrazzi-style Terje-foot-sniping of Burton’s new step in bindings, we can now bring you a bit more info on the new system the B have developed along with another video of it working in the wild – from the horse’s mouth as it were.
The teasy video gets in close with a lot of the Step Ons key components – the toe cleats, heel buckle, heel cleat, Boa tightening, toe hooks and release lever – before some dude scoots along, steps straight on and in, and rides off into the sunset. Ok, it’s not a sunset but getting in looks super easy (check out Alex Andrews taking advantage of stepping on) and as as our Terje clip showed, getting out is as simple as flipping the lever and rolling your foot out.
We’re curious to see how it will function in powder, but until then here’s some more step in product porn for your eyeballs…
The moment you’re ready, it’s time to ride. Secure, and ready for the entire mountain, the Step On boot-to-binding connection offers unprecedented convenience and performance—it’s Step On and go.
Over in the US, Burton invited a select few media to take them for a spin, including Transworld Business who sat down with Burton’s VP of product for a chinwag about the Step Ons. Product nerds would do well to check out the full interview over on TWBiz.
There’s rumours of a Euro test day early in the New Year so we’ll report back on how we found their performance should we get the nod to join.
