With springlike temperatures on saturday and deep winter conditions on sunday, the participants at the elooa Splitboard Basics Camp learned all basic principles.

The camp in Kleinwalsertal presented by K2 Snowboarding was adressed to all interested snowboarders, who always wanted to try out a splitboard on easy tours and under expert guidance. Equipped with brandnew K2 Splitboards und avalanche safety gear from BCA, the participants were taught the splitboard basics by experienced pros and guided by certified mountain guides on their first easy tours.

After a workshop like introduction in the evening on the splitboard setup, a practical training in the handling of skins, crampons, poles and of course climbing techniques followed the next morning. Thenn followed a long splitboard tour on an almost 2000m high peak  and with the last sunrays a nice run down to our rustic hut.

After theoretical keynotes about avalanche awareness and backcountry safety in the evening, we were greeted with heavy snowfall in the morning, which almost brought 30cm of fresh pow.

An unforgettable tour through deep snowed in forests, with integrated avalanche rescue beacon training and a fantastic powder run down to the valley made the elooa Camp a huge success. An instructive and snow rich weekend came to its end and we are already looking forward to the next elooa splitboard camps – then hopefully with you!
