Greybird and fog did nothing to dampen the riders’ enthusiasm here in Trysil where day 1 of burn’s King of the North focussed solely on fun lapping this Norwegian resort’s epic park.
The lifline was clogged with effectively a who’s who of Scandi talent yesterday where riders like Ståle Sandbech, Sven Thorgren and Toni Kerkelä warmed their legs in preparation for the first of the events today here at the burn King of the North. It was all hollers and high fives as both the jib and kicker lines were mobbed by pods of shredders firing through the mist, logging some footage, bagging some shots and, hell, just having a whale of a time.
When the lifts closed, a troupe consisting of Kerkelä, Eirik Karlsson, Jonas Steen, Zebbe Landmark and more hadn’t had their whistles wetted quite enough, so they turned their back on the delights of Instagram and Tinder offered at the bar with free wifi in preference of a game of HORSE on the kinked tube, which went on well into the twilight.
The skies have cleared today and the lapping is getting hotter under the Norse sun, and we have the Jib Session looking to kick off at around 6pm local time where a bunch of dudes will send it for a slice of the cashpile the organisers are itching to dish out. Tomorrow the kicker session will go down – make sure you tune in to the King of the North live stream – and we’ll have a report of tonight’s action to pop your peepers with too.
Till then, check this gallery of shots from bossman Daniel Tengs…
