Swedish snowboarder, Kevin Backstrom, is looking to get his career back on track after getting unstuck earlier this year. Back in February of this year he was booted off his national snowboarding team for posting sexist material on his instagram feed. This has overshadowed the fact that once he’s on his board and off his phone Backström is an exceptional snowboarder.
It wasn’t the first team Backström had been in trouble, in October 2012 he was censured by his bosses for hitting a strip club. Backström has been using his new free time to work with his longtime friend, Tor (who quit the Sweden in solidarity), to release his own video project called ‘BYND x MDLS’. He was also featured in Mikkel Bang’s – 13 and Torstein Horgmo’s – Horgasm.
Kevin was born on July 16, 1992 in Ulricehamm, Sweden, and he started snowboarding at an early age. His first snowboard was a plastic board with ski-bindings. It was, of course, self-made but it did the job until he was able to pick up a real snowboard.
Kevin is currently taking it easy, waiting on the new snowboarding season to start. His army of social media fans and followers have helped him survive controversy and he will be keen to demonstrate that there’s more to him than 140 characters and let his snowboarding do the talking from now on.
