

Gerome Mathieu became the first Frenchman to nail the double corkis most famous for being the first French snowboarder ever to be featured in a Pirate’s snowboarding movie, as well as the first French man to successfully perform a Double Cork stunt.
Along with these achievements, he also competed and placed in a variety of snowboarding competitions. He won first place in the Nissan Stomp It, with a TTR 4 star ranking in 2010. In 2009, he won the Kaunertal Opening, placed fourth in the Nissan Stomp It Competition and coming in third in the Total Flight Competition. In 2008, he won the Poney Session Contest, Boarder Week competition and the Chamonix Snowball Competition, while placing second in the Kaunertal Opening that same year. He also won the Intercrew Chamrousse Competition in 2007 and the France vs England Avoriaz in 2006.
Gerome, now 26 years old, recalls his first snowboard being an Atlantis. He had his very first snowboarding day at the age of 9 years in the Pyrénées, a place that still holds an important place in his heart. Mathieu followed in his older brother in taking up snowboarding and quickly surpassed him. Having mastered a variety of tricks in his young snowboarding years, but choose to stick with the SW back 900 as his favourite trick.
Mathieu is most comfortable out in the backcountry, exploring all through winter and can still be found nailing the slopes where he first learned his trade.
