TOP RIDERS CONFIRMED FOR THE 2007 BURTON EUROPEAN OPEN IN LAAX/SWITZERLAND
Riders are getting ready for the Burton European Open 2007, which is kicking off in just over a month. Top riders are confirmed already, the open online registration is finished and it looks like the BEO will gather again around 450 riders from all over the world for the Halfpipe and Slopestyle disciplines. They will battle for US$ 125.000 prize-money and important points for the Burton Global Open Series Ranking as well as the TTR Ranking.
Despite poor snow conditions all over Europe, the BEO setup will be ready in time for the event. The well-known Superpipe in Laax will be done before Christmas and will await the BEO riders in perfect shape. The Slopestyle course looks like fun for the riders, starting with a Spine followed by two jib obstacles and a 3 kicker-combo with a Quarterpipe at the end.
The strong Finnish armada, who dominated the event last year, is coming back - led by last year’s HP winner Risto Mattila, who made the podium last weekend at the Air&Style. He also ended up 2nd on last year’s TTR Ranking and is hot to get the title this year! The young Burton rider Peetu Piiroinen, will be back too to defend his BEO Slopestyle title. German David Benedek, who blew minds last weekend with the first ever double corked 1260 seen and stomped in a contest, will give them a run for their money for sure.
The US riders division is led by superstar and Olympic Champion Shaun White, who confirmed for the Slopestyle event. This will be his first appearance ever at the BEO! Young ripper and new UnInc team member Danny Davis, who impressed at the US Open last year with a 2nd place in HP and an impressive victory in the Quarterpipe comp, will come to the BEO for the first time as well.
The ladies are represented by Dutch Women’s TTR World Champion Cheryl Maas, Swiss Burton rider Anne-Flore Marxer, German ripper Silvia Mittermüller, Canadian Natasza Zurek, who won the Slopestyle at last year’s BEO and NZ Open Slopestyle winner Hana Beaman from the US.
In other news, the Burton Superpark on the Dachstein Glacier stays opened!
On the Dachstein glacier there are perfect conditions and the Burton Superpark presents itself from its absolute best side these days! The management has decided not to close down the park and lifts as planned on the 10th of December but to keep it open for the moment. What are you waiting for?
