January 27, 2008. Snowboarders and freeskiers from six nations took part in the third leg of the Snowpark Tour 08 at Lech am Arlberg (AUT) but most winners came from Austria: Marlon Holzmann out of Vandans (AUT) won the freeskiers’ comp while Thomas Feuerstein from Schruns (AUT) was successful at the snowboarders’.

On Sunday, 62 participants gathered at the start gate of the Lech snowpark at Schlegelkopflift. The riders came from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Poland and the USA. “As usual, the level here was very high”, Bernd Gutwenger from organizers Mellow Constructions stated. After blue bird on Saturday, the visibility got worse on Sunday, but “a good rider should also be able to perform well when the weather is bad”, Bernd Gutwenger said.

The Snowpark Lech offered a triple kicker line with 7- to 14-metre kickers as well as a rail line with Straight Box, Kinked Rail, Curved Box, Jib Tree, Downrail, Double Kinked Box and Wallride – a lot of features for the rookie riders to show off their versatility.

Snowboarding: Lech ready to defend the team title
The snowboarders showed tricks like Cab 9, Frontside 7 and Cab 5 as well as 270 on/270 off at the rails. Among the participants was also last year’s winner and “most impressive rider” of the Snowpark Tour 2007, Patrik Huber from Warth (AUT). This year he had to be content with the second place behind 16-year-old youngster Thomas Feuerstein. Third place went to Simon Holzknecht from Pettneu am Arlberg (AUT), fourth to Chris Haslwanter from Reith near Seefeld (AUT). This quartet is qualified for the finals of the Snowpark Tour 08 at Kitzsteinhorn (AUT) and is eager to defend their title at the Team Battle – the riders of the Snowpark Lech won this team contest for snowboarders in 2007 and 2006. In addition, Thomas Feuerstein got a wild card for the Ästhetiker Jam Wängl Tängl 2008. Diana Sadlowski from Komorowice (POL) won the female snowboarders’ competition while Fabian Türtscher from Riezlern (AUT) was the best rookie.
