Surprise Results in the BEO Halfpipe Finals

Top rider-driven TTR Six Star event Burton European Open (BEO) Halfpipe Finals delivered two surprise winners as Crispin Lipscomb (CAN) & Holly Crawford (AUS) each claimed contest titles, 10,000USD and 1000 TTR Ranking Points for the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour.

Finally blessed with bluebird conditions after a heavy week of inclement weather and contest re-scheduling, Laax provided top riders and snowboard fans with halfpipe perfection at Crap Sogn Gion.

Breaking ground in Europe, having only competed in one TTR event previously, Crispin Lipscomb (CAN) took 1st place after completing his winning run – a frontside inverted 1080, into a Cab 720, into frontside 900 melon, into a backside 900, finishing on a huge backside alley-oop 360 indy – moving him straight into TTR World No.29 position on the TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch.

Laax local rider Iouri Podladtchikov (RUS) achieved his regular average TTR halfpipe result of 2nd place, to ensure his entry into the TTR Top 10, at the TTR World No.7 spot after just four TTR results. Janne Korpi (FIN) jumps up eleven spots on the TTR Ranking List to TTR World No.14 position, his highest ranking so far of the season, after clinching 3rd on the podium.

Although the upper half of the Men’s TTR Top 10 remains the same with Antti Autti (FIN) still in the leader’s position as current TTR World No.1, the lower half takes on significant new entry Swiss young-blood Christian Haller (SUI) – finishing 8th at the BEO pushes Haller (SUI) directly into the TTR No.10 spot.

The BEO women’s Halfpipe Finals also delivered an exciting new name to the Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour as Australian Holly Crawford (AUS) stunned crowds and judges, despite cracked ribs, with her stylish winning run, which included a frontside 540 stalefish, into a Japan air, into a stalefish, a frontside 7, ending with a cab 540, to take 1st place – only the second time an Australian has ever won a Six Star title.

Also new to The TTR Ranking List is 2nd placed Squamish local, Sarah Conrad (CAN) who threw down to land herself on the Women’s TTR Tour. Claiming 3rd place, Ellery Hollingsworth (USA) moves up the TTR Top 10 by two spots and now stands at TTR World No.5. Juliane Bray (NZE) just missed podium by finishing 4th. However, with this, her 5th TTR result of the season, Bray (NZE) overthrows Cheryl Maas (NED) from TTR World No.2 position although still has a way to go to close the gap on current leader Jamie Anderson (USA).
