Stylewars – The BledisSnow Cup September 16 - 20 Snow Park, New Zealand

The next chapter of the highly contested Stylewars saga unfolds in Snow Park New Zealand where the trans Tasman rivalry of The BlediSnow Cup will be decided until the return of the winter in 2009. After the recently hugely successful Stylewars Australia, where Australia narrowly managed to hold on to the title the New Zealand team is determined to take revenge on home snow.

The winter downunder this year has been one of the past decade bringing with it good cold temperatures and deep late snowfalls. This has left Snow Park, New Zealand with one of its best-looking spring seasons to date. While all you snowboarders up north are waiting for the cold temperatures to return downunder we are just starting to warm up and Stylewars New Zealand could be the biggest spring session in downunder history.

Being the first year that Stylewars has crossed the Tasman Ocean to New Zealand shores it is looking to be pushing the limits yet again in Snowboarding lifestyle where all aspects are celebrated, freestyle progression, parties, music and just good times on the snow in the spring sunshine.

“The New Zealand event will be different from the Australian event as the main focus is the friendly Trans Tasman rivalry. The two countries love to compete at everything we do so it is only natural to expect something huge from the event in Snow Park after the success of the Falls Creek Australia event in August." Event organiser Rich Hegarty said.

The two teams are brimming with internationally strong riders James Hamilton (NZ), Jye Kearney (AUS) and Stef Zeestraten (NZ) who are currently placed 14th, 15th and 16th respectively on the Swatch TTR World Tour ranks. Not to be forgotten are a long list of big southern hemisphere contenders like Jacob Koia (NZ), Quentin Robbins (NZ) Robbie Walker (AUS), Clint Allan (AUS), Ryan Tiene (AUS) and US OPEN junior halfpipe champion Scotty James (AUS).

The huge line up of riders will be staying up on snow in Snow Park enjoying a freestyle set up built just for the occasion featuring 100ft jumps, step ups, step downs, quarter pipes and the course may well shock the public with the addition of football posts to the competition course. This will have to be seen to believe!

Stylewars continues to be an invite only slopestyle event with a newly appointed 3-star Swatch TTR World tour rating.
