“I”m really stoked and overwhelmed to be riding for Red Bull. I’ve always thought really highly of them, and the athletes they choose to represent them, so to be one of them feels great. They’re a company that really gives something back to each sport they’re a part of, and I think that’s the most important thing a company can do. I’m excited to be part of the team,” says O’Brien.
With 2 podiums in as many competitions so far this season, including her first major competition win at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO, O’Brien is currently the women’s slopestyle leader of the tour. She earned her way to this point in her career starting back in 2005 when she took Rookie of the Event at the U.S. Open and has steadily been gaining recognition ever since. O’Brien’s other top accomplishments include 3rd at the 2008 X-Games and Rookie of the Year in Transworld Snowboarding’s Rider’s Poll. O’Brien is not only known for her strength and style in competition, but has also made her mark in films and magazines. Plus, she is integral to the development and marketing of, long time sponsor, Burton, and their B By Burton line.
“We’ve wanted Spencer on Red Bull since we first met her in 2005, and she asked to be on the team. Good things take time, and this is definitely a good thing. We believe that she’s a perfect fit for our brand on every level, and are really excited for all the fun we’re going to have with her in the coming years,” says Red Bull’s Jaimeson Keegan.
Many good things are yet to come for O’Brien and Red Bull is proud to be a part of this strong and enduring relationship.
