For the very first time, the finals of the Snowpark Tour will take place in Switzerland. The best freestyle rookies of Germany, Austria and Switzerland will gather to Saas-Fee on March 17 and 18, 007. At the snow park, they will fight for desirable titles like the 'most impressive rider' or the 'best snow park crew'. The winners will not only earn glory and honour but also exclusive prizes like the invitation to the Nanshan Open in China.
Saas-Fee is well known for its excellent snow park but also for great partying. Therefore, the peaceful village in the Valais Alps is the perfect place to crown the female and male winners of the Snowpark Tour 007. The four best snowboarders, the two best freeskiers and the best female skier and snowboarder of each of the ten Snowpark Tour stops in Switzerland, Germany and Austria are qualified for the Finale Grande on March 17th and 18th.
Jam Session Format
One of the confirmed riders is Corsin Simeon aka Cuga. The 20-year-old Swiss snowboarder won the qualification event at the Engadine/St. Moritz. “I think it’s cool they have the jam session format at the Snowpark Tour. Therefore, you can put the foot down and risk something – and that’s what I like," he said. “Now I’m looking forward to the finals and I hope that my Engadine crew will win."
At the finals, the four best snowboarders of each tour leg will form a team and battle against the other parks for the honourable title of the “best snow park crew". The best team will be interviewed by Onboard magazine and the three best crews will be invited to the TTR Bootcamp at Nordpark, Innsbruck, Austria.
The winners of the single categories will also get exclusive prizes. The “most impressive snowboarder" will be invited to travel to China’s Nanshan Open contest and will be interviewed by the snowboarder MBM magazine. The best freeskier will get a wild card for the Orage European Freeski Open in Laax. And the best snowboard girl will be invited to the Roxy Chicken Jam at St. Moritz. “I will give everything to win at Saas-Fee. It would be so great to travel to China", backside 900 specialist Cuga said. “I’m excited to see the park as I have only heard good things yet."
Park at 2,800m
All year, Saas-Fee guarantees highest-quality snow parks: on the glacier in summertime and in the middle of the skiing area at 2,800 m sea level in winter. Despite fearing lacking snow, the participants can look forward to a fantastic set-up including a big and a middle triple kicker line as well as jibbing obstacles in all variations, like a rainbow box or an S-rail. For the Snowpark Tour finals, head shaper Martin Raaflaub will even extend this set-up. The park even includes a super-pipe that will not be part of the contest but for sure a welcome feature for the riders to try some runs. So there’s more than one reason to try and qualify at the last qualification contest on Friday at Saas-Fee. By the way, the big final party on Saturday will take place at the legendary Popcorn bar.
