The season is on: Hintertux Betterpark Opening

When: Sun 7th of October 2007

Where: Hintertux, Austria

Come to the office and crucify me if I´m wrong but I´m sure that this winter will be a blast: An old Tyrolian told me this weekend that due to the farmers´ almanac (which is probably as old as this guy) the coming season will be better than everything we have seen in the last ten years! And I believe him as the season couldn´t have started better than at this weekend.

Overview from 3250 meters.

Hundreds of young kids, older shredders and experienced pros travelled to the famous Hintertux Betterpark Opening this weekend. And the weather gods were good-humoured: Despite fog and rain down in the valley on Saturday, the sun was shining on 3250 meters! Those who made it up to the glacier quite early were the lucky ones this day as the snow got really slushy really fast. But the Betterpark was in perfect shape and the riders loved it: Steve Gruber, Rudi Kröll and some more Ästhetiker were ripping the pipe, the massive kicker line and a really nice hip.

The pipe in the front and the medium kicker line in the back.

Those who still didn´t know which board to buy this season could get some impressions at the test center based at the Fernerhaus, where brands like Rome, Burton, Apo or Forum offered their latest boards. It was also there where everyone got started for the evening as DJs made up for a chilling atmosphere and the sun for some tan…

The night didn´t end the action as the Fat Gipsy invited everybody to the „Snapshot“ premiere which is certainly a movie you have to see if you love the Austrian scene! Maybe they shouldn´t have offered free punch: The party lasted until 6.30 in the morning when the last guests stumbled outside the bus garage which was a freaky-deaky event location.

Sunday was holy: Not because it was Sunday but because somebody up there must have really blessed us. No single cloud was looming at the bluebird sky although the temperatures went a bit down and therefore the park was „as cold as ice“, saying it was damn hard! But most of the riders were pretty damaged from the night before anyway and left the park to the hundreds of young shred kids – waiting time in the lift queue: 35 minutes! But it didn´t stop anyone from enjoying this perfect weekend: Thanks to the crew from, Munchie Konsilium and Hintertux for this amazing start into the season. But please call me before you come to the office to crucify me if you haven´t used your board until March – I think I can´t handle two crucifications a day…
