The Mile High – Results and Highlights

The Mile High by Carlton Dry hosted over the past few days the highest level of slopestyle snowboarding, at any event ever before on the World Snowboard Tour. Only once before in slopestyle competition history has a triple cork (3 inverted rotations flips and a minimum of 4 full rotations) been landed in a slopestyle run which happened at the US X Games and yesterday were seen not only one, but numerous triple corks.

Gjermund Braaten from Norway won 1st place, with an amazing display of technical riding and perfect air awareness, landing high rotation tricks on huge jumps and always looking perfectly in control:

Very close on his heels was Billy Morgan who now has the claim of landing the first triple cork in Australia and also joins the handful of competitors to have landed the trick in a World Tour Slopestyle event. The Brit made it look super easy and smooth, with perfect landing and style. See for yourselves:

In the Womans snowboarding slopestyle, Silje Norendal  won by quite a margin showing that she has the skills to potentially be the first gold medalist  at the upcoming Olympics. The norwegian’s run stood out from the pack due to a frontside 7 cork on the last large 60ft + jump.
