Premiere season continues in Austria as Stubai Glacier joins Hintertux with the park now open for business - and lucky us, we got to witness the opening first hand this weekend.
Sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as the new gondola drawing coos from adoring visitors and locals alike, made for a fully packed weekend. Rippers of all abilities headed up the mountain, with the Postland crew, Sane!, a heap of Horsefeathers riders and many more on the scene - and of course a whole heap of brands were on site with fancy 2016-2017 boards for people to take out and test on the hill.
Saturday kicked off proceedings with Sebbe De Buck helping to judge the DC Best Line comp on the medium kickers, while elsewhere ladies got a chance to tear around the mountain with Klaudia Medlova - and all the while there were spot sessions happening on the jib line and booters, chased incessantly by the assorted swarming media (Onboard included).
In the afternoon the main focus moved over to the Brandsaloon where Horsefeathers' Hit the Tank was set up and drawing crowds of all sorts, once more the folks from Sane! and Horsefeathers team members helping to curate the hype.
Sunday was all about the jib line back in the main park however, with Lib Tech's Jib the Lib offering up a Skate Banana to the rider able to impress the most over the course of the session. Slovenia's Erik Harc ended up holding the fresh deck high when all was said an done.
Then to wrap up the weekend the jib line lapping continued until the clouds came in, with Postland's Tim Schiphorst capturing some of the finest hits of the event with Jesse Augustinus, Christoph Schwarz, Ollie Dutton, Will Smith and more, joined by Michi Schatz, Steve Grumser and Klaudia Medlova to name but a few.
Fully knackered by the end of it all, we returned home to roost, but with Prime park sessions just around the corner we know it's all just about to go down again. We've got edits from the weekend on the way, and will be looking out for some more Stubai pickings, so watch this space...
