The Swatch TTR 5Star Crans-Montana Champs Open presented by Rip Curl finally had a break from the tough weather conditions that had postponed the final. The event proved to be a real success, with high level riding and a tight battle for the top positions. Frenchman Arthur Longo took out first place, moving into Swatch TTR World No.11. Risto Mattila (FIN) came second and is now sitting in World No.3, the top spot firmly in his sights. Elias Elhardt (GER) took the third place on the podium and moved into World No.33, his star on the rise.

$50 000 USD and 850 TTR Ranking points were on offer and all the riders were hungry for victory. Arthur Longo owned the day with his killer runs and smooth style, his winning run consisting of a Switch Backside 9, Fronside 7 to Backside 7 on the kicker line, followed by a Frontside 9, Backside 5, Frontside 7 to Haakon flip in the Halfpipe.

He was more than ecstatic after claiming first place: “I felt good riding and my second run pushed me to take the first place. I’m really happy as it’s been a while. The course was changed a bit over night and combined with the pipe it was really super fun and I really enjoyed riding it!”

Also stoked was Risto Mattila whose hard work and determination is starting to pay off in the Swatch TTR ranking. “This morning I was not even sure if I could ride because of my ankle. The motivation came from somewhere and I am super stoked to push through and end up second. Moving up to TTR World No. 3 feels really good. Peetu here I come!” he warns.

Lower down in the TTR Rankings some other big changes went down. Ville Uotila (FIN) who placed fourth in the Champs Open has moved into World No.15, as Steve Krijbolder (NED) snuck into the TTR Top 30 into World No.28. Veteran Swiss rider and spokesperson for the sport, Gian Simmen proved he still has a lot to offer and has moved up into World No. 31. An outstanding performance was seen from a local rookie, 14 year old, Patrick Burgener (SUI), who used the hometown support to his advantage and claimed 6th position.
