PROTEST ROCK A RAIL Set To Drop In On The Hague

Some steezy geeza getting it done at last year’s gig.

On Friday 12th October 2012, the premier rail jam in northern Europe returns to The Hague. Protest Rock a Rail Presented By Monster Energy boasts possibly the sickest rail setup ever to be seen for a city competition, anywhere in the World.

Building on the success of last years contest, 2500 spectators are expected to fill the ‘Grote Markt’ to witness the jibbers battling it out for the 1000 Euro grand prize, or a share of the massive 3000 Euro prize purse. A custom, one-of-a-kind rail setup will be constructed over a two-storey scaffolding frame, which is built in the heart of the city. Featuring a kinked rail, a down rail, a pole jam, a creeper, a re-direct and a close out to wallride, the possibilities are endless. The setup is to be covered in locally produced, artificial snow.

With international invitees Gulli Gudmundsson (Iceland) and Denis Leontyev (Russia) lining up alongside local heroes such as Cees Wille and the defending champion Wessel Van Lierop, the riders are sure to make the most of the incredible setup and provide an amazing spectacle for the spectators. The event commences at 18:00 with the final expected to start around 22:00. An early arrival is recommended for the best view!

After the prize giving, Rock A Rail switches into party mode. The afterparty is to be held at ‘de Supermarkt’ (also on the Grote Markt). We will kick it off with the premiere of ‘Catscratch’; a snowboard film with Dutch origins but featuring international riders and locations. This will be followed by performances from Swedish punk rockers ‘The Holograms’ and Dutch duo ‘Elle Bandita and Buster Shindig’. The party will run in true Dutch style – until late into the night!

Pre-vis of this year’s setup.

Rock A Rail is free to attend and the event is intended to introduce as wide an audience as possible to urban snowboarding. The never before seen combination of obstacles lends itself to never before seen tricks being put down to keep the hardcore shred fans happy! With photographers and filmers on hand to document everything, the follow up video edit is sure to be a banger! Organised by the Blanko Foundation, with support from Protest Boardwear, Monster Energy, Den Haag Marketing, GoPro, Bataleon, Snowworld and the Supermarkt venue, the unique setup and rider list guarantees Rock A Rail to be the must-see rail jam in Europe this winter.

Anyone near The Hague can come and watch – for free, and anyone who cannot make it over can follow the event on Facebook and tune in for the highlights!
