New World Records – Highest Ski and Snowboard Airs on a Hip set by Christian Haller. Sebbe de Buck wins the Perfect Hip Contest at Suzuki Nine Knights 2016
A new world record was set at the “Perfect Hip” built for the Suzuki Nine Knights 2016. Two thousand viewers gathered on the Public Contest Day on Saturday the 2nd of April 2016, to watch the invited world’s best transition snowboarders reaching new jaw-dropping heights, flying over the 10 metre tall axe. Watles in South Tyrol, Italy saw of week of progression sessions, majestic cloudy sunsets and jib sessions on the downdays. On contest day it was Belgian snowboarder Sebbe De Buck who charged hardest, with a mix of tricks and giant airts, to take the win among his peers.
Though the snowboarders were all neck and neck throughout the contest, De Buck’s amplitude, technical finesse, and style earned him first place. His tricks included a frontside 360 and a crowd pleasing double backflip. “It’s the most insane feature with the most insane people riding it,” concluded the big Belgian boss boy, “everybody was enjoying it which hyped me up to try some new tricks on this hip”. In second was local ripper Simon Gruber, followed by 4-time World Snowboard Tour Champion, Peetu Piiroinen. Meanwhile, Seppe Smits took home the Buff Best Trick with a switch method, the only switch trick among the snowboarders.
