Laax Season Kickoff 2015: Full Report and Gallery

There’s no doubt about it, Laax is one of the finest resorts in the whole of Euroland for snowboarding.

When an invite for the 2015 Laax Season Kickoff dropped into our inbox, there was no way we could turn down the chance to hit up the pristine park and insane groomers, check out the revamped No Name bar, and be entertained by some world-class music acts – all under perfect bluebird conditions.

The Cash for Tricks on Saturday saw a bunch of kids rock up to the park to throw-down in return for some cola/beer/candy-fuelling Swiss dollar, and after getting a few runs ourselves, we returned to the village for the Burton Store Opening, live music and a chance to catch up with the homies. In the evening the whole of Laax descended on a fully packed-out Riders Palace for a killer performance from Fritz Kalkbrenner.

Scroll on to check out all of the shots and be sure to hit up Laax this season – we certainly cannot wait to return for the Laax Open on the 18th-24th January!

Laax is open yo! There’s not a whole load of snow just yet, but there’s still a bunch of terrain to shred and the park is immaculate! Photo: Sam Oetiker

Myriony Moss went for an insane boardslide to backflip on the A-frame rail…
… And logged the slam of the entire day on his second attempt. Head slide anyone?

Burton’s Riglet program is one of the most important things in snowboarding right now – it’s never too early to get kids standing on their first board, and the Riglet parks, like the one down in Flims are doing just that. Photo: Tom Kingsnorth
