When: Sun 13th of January 2008
Where: St. Moritz, Switzerland
What is a better location for condignly celebrating the seventh year of the Snowpark Tour than St. Moritz? On the weekend of the 12th and 13th of January the first stop of the season took place in Switzerland. The theme was Hawaii and the sun was trying the best to make specators and riders feel like being on an island in the Pacific. Wonderful weather, a perfect Mellow Park and a lot of frozen water made it easy for the 50 riders to enjoy the contest. Who thinks about Hawaii if the biggest rookie tour for snowboarders takes place? 18 year old David Bertschinger won the men´s ranking with clean and stylish BS 3 Mutegrabs, 720 tailgrabs and Switch 9s while Elena Könz could defend her last year´s title.
The best four boys and the best two girls qualified for the Snowpark Tour finals at the Kitzsteinhorn, Austria, which will take place on March 15th/16th. David Bertschinger also won a wild card for the Ästhetiker Wängl Tängl 2008, a TTR event, in Mayrhofen (AUT).
After this successful start of the seventh Snowpark Tour Swiss riders can look forward to an additional three events in their country: The next stop in Switzerland will be on the 2th and 3rd of February in the Gran Masta Park in Adelboden. And after this there are still stops in Flumserberg und Saas-Fee left – plenty of possibilities for you to go shredding with other rookies and try to get a place in the finals.
