The first edition of the Family Freestyle Weekend saw a bunch of kids and their parents brave the inclement weather in Alpendorf's Betterpark...

There are more and more snowboarders with kids these days, and more of these rug rats are getting introduced to the way of the side slide at increasingly earlier ages. The good folk at Munchie Konsilium recognised this and, partnering up with the resort of Alpendorf/Sankt Johan im Pongau, Austria, organised the first Family Freestyle Weekend that pitched up at the foot of the area's Betterpark.

As well as a bunch of kid-specific gear to try out and plenty of free milkshakes and tea, there were a bunch of coaches on hand to help the young uns develop their skills - be it toeside turns or stepping to park jumps. Come evening it was straight to the pasta party and a game of BINGO where all the kids walked away with some swag before the groms got a chance to hang out, trade tales, and play aggressive e-Darts.

Though the weather was far from ideal, the concept is a rad one and all the kids and parents who made their way to Alpendorf are already looking forward to next year and crossing fingers for bluebird skies for the second edition!
