The Vans Dawn of the Shred once again showed that it is possible to hold a legit on-snow gathering in the UK, with a solid-sized wedge, assorted jibs and the finest riders from Her Majesty’s island throwing down. Check it out – Scotland represent!
This grassroots shindig – loosely dubbed a competition, though it’s mainly a good old-fashioned get together – has been wrapping up the winter season, Scottish style, for the last few years. Cairngorm Mountain, up the road from Aviemore, has a long tradition in British snowboarding and it’s awesome to see that things are still happening in the place where the legendary Simon Smith, Jonny Barr and other pioneers of UK shredding spent their winters back in the ancient past.
Part bro-down for the rocking locals, part chance for the more celebrated Brit riders to throw down outdoors, on a mountain, on their own island, the Dawn of the Shred is the tits. See you there next year. Check this video from the ex-Fear of the Park crew to see what it’s all about…
