Swedish Burton Halfpipe Invitational

When: Sat 12th of April 2008

Where: Are, Sweden

On Saturday, April 12th 2008, some of the world’s best snowboarders gathered in Are Sweden to compete for a 100.000 SEK prize purse and 550 TTR Ranking Points at the Swatch TTR 3-Star Burton Halfpipe Invitational. Dolf van Der Wal from Holland took top honours followed by Swedish rider Hampus Mosesson in second and TTR No. 34 Tore Holvik from Norway in third.

A beautiful brand new halfpipe was built, offering riders the best possible conditions in which to perform. Amongst the heavy hitting field of competitors were the young and talented Mikkel Bang from Norway, professional Swedish snowboarder Hampus Mosesson and Olivier Gittler from France. They all ripped, putting on a breath taking show with their world-class halfpipe riding. The audience followed in style bringing a great and positive atmosphere to the event.

The riders competed against each other ‘head to head’, with the best competitor moving on to the next heat. The top Swedish rider of the day, Hampus Mosesson, showed off his skills by winning every single heat up to the final round. The super final was beyond exciting and the outcome hard to predict due to an insane level of riding from all participants.

In his first run during the super finals, the Dutch rider Dolf van der Wal managed to perform his best run of the day. It brought him to first place and a prize cheque of 50.000 SEK. ‘It feels great,” said Dolf. “Especially since this is my first win in a big international competition.”

Second place finisher Hampus Mosesson also took home the Parlino Highest Air title, earning himself 10.000 SEK on top of his 30.000 SEK second place winnings. Tore Holvik’s third place earned him 10.000 SEK while TTR No. 14 Mikkel Bang took 10.000 SEK home himself by winning the Junkyard Volvo 740 Bonk Session.
