Right in time for the new year, the Absolut Park Flachauwinkl started into a new season with its annual Jib King contest on January 3rd. In the finale on the Air & Style's original stairset, Alois Lindmoser proved to be most royal of them all and was crowned King of the Jib, Panka Gyarmati stepped up as Jib Queen.
The weather couldn't have been better for the 20 snowboarders competing in the battle. There were plenty of ways to get creative on the 12 obstacles and it wasn't an easy one for the judging-team lead by Andy Lehmann to pick the winners.
The rookies convinced with a high level of riding and clean runs, Bene Hofer snagged the win with a backside 540, cab 180 50-50 and a 50-50 backside 360. Moritz Kaufmann and Ladislav Hrstka came in second and third.
The only two participating girls Panka Gyarmati and Johanna Blum left nothing to be desired and with a cab540, frontboard and a 50-50 frontside 180 out Panka went on to become Jib Queen 2015.
When it came to the battle of the Jib King crown, the riders went all in on the stairset. In the end it was Alois Lindmoser who convinced the judges with a switch backside 180 to 50-50 frontside 360 out and a frontside 360 to 50-50 on the down rail. Simon Gschaider came in second and Clemens Millauer third.
Time and time again it's a fun contest with mellow vibes and a high level of riding, rounded off by Henry Jacksons waffling to steadily keep up the good mood.
