The 2015 edition of the Air & Style Innsbruck presented by Opel released a riders list, that will guarantee yet another top level event. Prepare for the madness to go down on January 16th & 17th…
The stop at the Bergisel stadium is the second of three Air & Style tour stops, with the first going down in Beijing a couple weeks ago, that had Emil Ulsletten came in 1st place. Olympians Sage Kotsenburg and Stale Sandbech will surely try their best to snag the trophy, as will Austrians Werni Stock and Mathias Weißenbacher who are pumped on the home game.
The big finale of the tour will take place in Los Angeles in february, where the overall winner will be crowned. Up until now, Emil Ulsletten is in the lead and is handled as one of the top contestants to score high in Innsbruck.
Eric Willet, who took home the win at the last Innsbruck edition of the Air & Style is pumped to defend his title and make up for his Beijing runs. Another one to watch out for is young gun Keita Inamura from Japan who qualified via the World Rookie Tour for the Beijing stop and bagged 6th place, securing his spot for the Innsbruck comp.
To spice things up, there will be a modified contest- and judging format at the Austria event. The friday qualifications on friday 16th of january won’t be duels with two runs each but an open mode with three runs per athlete. The 16 riders who scored highest on their two runs will qualify for the main contest on saturday 17th.
Another novelty is the scoring system: every run gets 50 points max (40 points tech, 10 points style). The two best runs per round will be added up to a total of 100 points max. Same goes for the main contest on saturday, which will see the good ol’ format of two duelling athletes and the four top contestants fighting for the trophy in the finale.
Programme:FRIDAY, 16th Januar 2015: Qualification, Family Day
For qualifications on friday the venue will be open to families: kids and teenagers up until 14 years can go together with a supervisor, free of charge to watch the riders fight for spots for the main event. Tickets are all gone now.
