With less than 10 days to go, top riders from around the globe are getting ready to gather in Laax, Switzerland from January 20-27th for the Burton European Open 2007.

The Burton European Open is part of the Burton Global Open Series presented by Motorola which unites 5 events around the world where riders have the chance to win US$100,000 prize money in the women’s and men’s championship titles. The BEO is a 6 star TTR Event (Ticket To Ride World Tour), so riders will be battling it out for important points for their TTR Ranking. Contests will be taking place in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe disciplines, with $125.000 in prize money up for grabs.

Invited top riders include current Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White, the first Olympic Gold Champion Gian Simmen and last year’s TTR World Champion Mathieu Crepel. Finland’s Antti Autti who won the HP at the TTR Event in Davos last weekend and is currently leading in the TTR Ranking will also be making an appearance. Travis Rice, winner of the Air & Style 2006, and German David Benedek who made history at the A&S stomping the first cork 1260 during a contest, will also be vying for the title.

Women’s snowboarding at it’s best can be expected with a packed field from all corners of the globe. Canadian Natasza Zurek (Women's TTR World Champion 2005/2006 and currently 2nd on the Women’s TTR Tour), Cheryl Maas from the Netherlands, German Silvia Mittermüller, Swiss Anne-Flore Marxer, Australian Torah Bright, UK’s Jenny Jones and US ripper Hana Beaman.
